Service Description
As the academic medical center and University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center is nationally recognized for clinical excellence, breaking new ground in research, training the next generation of healthcare leaders, and delivering science-driven, patient-centered care. The Montefiore Wakefield Child Outpatient Psychiatry Program provides care to children and adolescents ages 4-21 years old. New applicants should be between 4 and 17.5 years of age. In addition to services such as individual psychotherapy, group therapy, family therapy, art therapies, psychological testing, and medication management they have two specialty clinics. The first is Becoming Emerging Adults at Montefiore (BEAM) to help adolescents access services and programs such as college, GED programs, and adult psychiatric services. The second is the Mentalization-based Parenting Program (for parents whose children are patients in the program). Exclusion criteria is: Primary Substance Use Disorders, Primary Dementia, Primary Intellectual Disability and Autism. Translation services are available for patients who speak language other than English and Spanish.
