Service Description
The Child Center of NY provides therapy and support to children and families struggling with a range of emotional and social difficulties. Their caring and qualified staff help clients build resilience, develop social-emotional skills, work through trauma, improve self-esteem, succeed in school, and develop coping skills that will help them handle challenges now and in the future. Culturally competent and multi-lingual outpatient counseling for mental health and substance abuse issues. For substance use issues, they serve adolescents and adults who are struggling. This location is home to the Asian Outreach Program. The Child Center of NY is also the Queens borough-wide provider of the Early Childhood Mental Health Network, a ThriveNYC initiative designed to provide mental health services and supports for families who have young children, ages 0-5, with mental health needs. They have staff who speak two dozen languages who are ready to assist you in the language you speak. When you call the main clinic number (718-358-8288) you can listen to their options in English, Bengali, Chinese, or Spanish for assistance in reaching the services you need; you may leave a message in any language, and they will assist you in that language. Medicaid and many third-party insurance plans are accepted. Fees for individuals without insurance are determined based on family income. -Hours: (These reflect current hours; please call our main number for more information; we maintain flexible hours for both in-person and remote services.) In-person hours: Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; Remote services are available six days a week by appointment. -Admission criteria: Must have mental health diagnosis. -Public transportation: Subway—#7 train to Main St., Buses—Q17, Q20A/B, Q25, Q32, Q34, Q44, Q65, LIRR to Main St.
